In strip harvesting, a thin strip of skin along with hair follicles are planted on the balding area whereas FUE is a manual process where every single hair follicle is extracted and grafted on the donor site.

Pre-surgery precautions include:

  • Avoid consuming any medicines like aspirin, painkillers, vitamins and blood thinners.
  • Avoid the use of steroids in all forms.
  • Stop the consumption of alcohol and smoking

Post-surgery precautions include:

  • Avoid over shampooing your hair
  • Avoid hair gel or any styling products
  • Avoid Wearing caps
  • Avoid caffeine
  • Get adequate sleep
  • Apply hair dye if the donor’s area grafts are grey hair

Ans:All humans are born with peach fuzz which is a slight and uniform growth of hair all over the body. However as we grow, the hair on our scalp tends to become denser than on our body.

Q 15: What is the difference between FUE and FUT?

Ans:Both FUE and FUT are hair transplantation procedure but the major difference between the both is that in FUT, a strip of donor skin sling with hair follicles is removed whereas in FUE, individual hair follicles are extracted from the donor site and transplanted on to the receiver site.

Q 16: What are the causes of hair fall? What is male pattern baldness? How does hormone affect hair?

Ans:Causes of hair fall can be many. Ranging from genetically inherited male or female pattern baldness to other external factors like stress, diseases, pollution, poor diet, bad quality water and even using the wrong products for hair.

Male pattern baldness or androgenic alopecia is an inherited baldness pattern that occurs in men. It mostly affects the center and front part of our head. Every person has a hair growth cycle. In males with male pattern baldness, this cycle disrupts shrinking hair follicles and eventually stopping their growth. This leads to baldness.

When estrogen and androgen levels drop, hair begins to thin out and eventually stops growing at all.

Q 17: How many sessions of chemical peel are usually needed?

Ans:To get the desired results, nearly 3-6 sessions are needed. There should be an average gap of 3-6 weeks between each session however.
